Summary: Mladen Naletilic, founder and former commander of the Bosnian Croat ‘Convicts’ Battalion’, a 200 to 300-strong body of soldiers based around Mostar, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for wilfully causing great suffering or serious injury to body or health, the use of unlawful labour and persecution on political, racial and religious grounds. Vinko Martinovic, former commander of the ‘Mrmak’ or ‘Vinko Skrobo’ unit of the Convicts’ Battalion and a subordinate to Naletilic, was sentenced to 18 years for crimes in the Mostar area.
