Summary: Milomir Stakic, former president of the Serb-controlled Prijedor Municipality Crisis Staff and head of the Municipal Council for National Defence in Prijedor, was convicted to 40 years in prison for extermination, murder and persecutions. He was convicted of planning and ordering the deportation of around 20,000 primarily non-Serb residents from the Prijedor municipality, and actively participating in the establishment of the Omarska, Keraterm and Trnopolje detention camps, where prisoners were subjected on a daily basis to serious mistreatment and abuse which amounted to torture.
