Summary: Tomislav Duic, Tonci Vrkic, Miljenko Bajic, Josip Bikic, Davor Banic, Emilio Bungur, Ante Gudic and Andjelko Botic, all former members of the Croatian military police in Split, were acquitted of war crimes against civilians by Split county court in November 2002. The supreme court voided the judgment in March 2004 and returned the case to the county court. Duic and Vrkic were then sentenced to eight years in prison and all the others to six years in prison each for physically and mentally abusing, torturing and killing two civilians in the Lora prison in Split between June and September 1992. Bikic was retried and sentenced to four years in prison in December 2009, while Bajic was retried and sentenced to four and a half years in prison in June 2012.
